I tracked my body changes every morning for 30 days to record my fluctuations from things like bloating, inflammation and water retention! I hope this video can be a little reminder that we all see bloating and fluctuations and that no two days are supposed to be the same, so that you can focus on crushing your long term goals! ♥️

Can you tell how much your weight usually on the scale fluctuates? Cause I think it's reallybinteresting since I diet I somehow still hit the same number some days as prior to my cut but suddenly I have a fluctuation of 1kg and before it would only fluctuate like 0.2-0.3kg max 😂 So it would have been interesting mentioning (since the scale doesn't tell the hole story)

Natacha Océane Thank you so much for this! I was feeling pretty discouraged the other day cause I was bloating. I felt like my workouts and meal plans weren’t working. This reminds me and helps me accept the fact that it’s COMPLETELY NORMAL for our bodies to fluctuate. ❤️ Stay healthy!

I know I'm watching this 6 months later but I just had to comment: this video is amazing. This is something that obviously some people don't know but more importantly, many forget. As the comments below show, people think they're not making any progress or they're gaining weight, even tho it's just normal change that happens day to day. I know I forget it often: every time I have a "bad body" day, I think about how I haven't gone to the gym for months (home workouts only) or how I don't take the bike as much (cos summers over), and it doesnät even cross my mind that it might be just how todays body looks like, and tomorrow I'll feel different again. Even though I know our bodies change daily, I didn't really realise it before this video. So thank you.

I would have loved if you had tracked your weight fluctuations over the 30 days. Without revealing your weight, but just whether you went up or down over the course of the month eg: Day 1 X kg (don't specify weight). Day 7 = + 500g, Day 16 = - 1kg etc. And a graph to show how your weight naturally fluctuated over the course of the month (because of hormones, water retention etc.). Because your whole point is that losing weight or building muscle isn't linear, so it would have been fascinating to see how someone who is just trying to maintain her weight has natural fluctuations in weight regardless.

I see so many people talking about how awful their periods are, and I feel so bad! I remember when I used to think constantly being on the verge of passing out/ throwing up from pain was normal, and spoiler alert it’s not. If you’re comfortable talk to your doctor or gyno and see if you can work out a plan to make your periods better, and if they don’t listen to you find a new doc!

I love how you talked about your performance decrease the days before your period! I always notice this too, the week before my period, but I used to not understand why this happened, and got really frustrated and hard on myself. But it's totally normal! I still go to the gym when that happens, but I can easily accept it now, when I notice I'm really not able to hit the same goals as usual. It's really interesting and one can learn a lot about oneself when paying attention to ones cycle!!

Hi Natasha, greetings from NYC! I’m a big fan of your work and am so so glad you mentioned the correlation between exercise, endurance and your monthly cycle when talking about feeling more sluggish during the Luteal phase. I’ve been doing a lot of research re: exercising and even eating in harmony with my period after learning about how the US women’s soccer team synchs their training plans to their players’ monthly cycle phases. I’ve also listened to an interesting podcast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0RqPQi0i7M) that talks about how a majority of medical, nutritional and fitness research is based off of studies on men and post-menopausal women, largely *ignoring* women of childbearing age and their unique, monthly hormonal cycle. The podcast (linking here w/notes: https://www.organicolivia.com/2020/05/episode-16-cycle-flow/) also cited a study (of reproductive-age rats lol) on intermittent fasting that found that the animals that fasted ended up with smaller ovaries/hormonal issues and other problems like insomnia (https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0052416). The pod also mentioned that engaging in high intensity interval training (HIIT) in the second half of a woman’s cycle contributed to fat storage and muscle wasting in young women. It’s crazy to me that exercise and nutrition info geared toward a specific demographic (men) is being adopted by others that it could potentially harm (younger women). I know there’s a shit ton of research to be done on the matter, but as you have a large platform, I think it’d be super interesting to have a video on optimizing exercise and synching it with the monthly cycle! As a young woman, avid runner, and someone always trying to eat/train my best, I find it disappointing that there are prescriptive ideas about nutrition and exercise that aren’t serving a large part of the population. I found these resources helpful!
 https://blog.insidetracker.com/training-around-menstrual-cycle https://dukeintegrativemedicine.org/DHWBlog/workout-flow-ladies-syncing-exercise-cycle/ Hope you’re doing well!

Ohhh I hope Natacha will see this!!! I'm also super interested in this! And it's important too - in making us a little gentler with ourselves -. I used to get so frustrated when my performance decreased, but now that I finally noticed that it had to do with my cycle, I have let go of being so hard on myself and can just accept that I can't hit the same goals every week of the month.

i think womens menstrual cycle and impact on our bodies is really underated and not talked about (i guess because people don't think how much of an impact they actually have on us). only recently have i noticed that the way my body looks like and feel about myself really changes and coincides with my menstrual cycle massively so i hpe in the future there will be more fitness women talking about such things! very good video !

I can relate so much to this subject. When I started my weightloss journey (from 104kg (= 229 lbs) to 51kg (= 112 lbs) in the end) a few years ago, I didn't have a fitness routine whatsoever. I had goals, but not a lot of attitude nor the motivation to do any kind of training. A few years later: my body was a wobbly mess, a lot of excess skin and I started to do running and weightlifting. After six years after my "weightloss set point": still excess skin but a lot less than in the beginning, more muscle developement on calves, thighs, arms and shoulders. Our bodies change so much in a very small time frame (and due to a variety of reasons... When I have to work six or seven days in a row with less sleep and training I still feel very heavy and stressed and sleep deprived and can't even be bothered to do some stretching...)! I can still see the changes after I've had a (bigger) meal, when I'm on my period (with water retention) and after a longer run (like 15-19km) with swollen legs or even after a longer arm-training session (But in a good way, like: "Hell yes, give me more arms like the Williams sisters!"). Thank you for reminding me of a little thing: We're all human, we all change physically, we just have to stay strong mentally!
