Long distance uphills- get off the balls of your feet! You won't have any legs left by the end otherwise. Maximise surface area on the ground instead and spread the load over more muscle groups . You will run the hill slower but will have the energy in your legs to carry on when you reach the top, leading in faster run times overall. Also less chance of injury.

I do mid-long distance for track and I do cross county. My main problem for races is I get really exited at the beginning and start faster than I wanted to (I do this unconsciously), and then I get tired faster.

Any tips on stiches? I took up running last August and to my own surprise really loved it for a few months. I had to suspend it due to chest pains and palpitations (which I weirdly don't get doing strength training or other kinds of cardio workouts...) The one thing that really crippled me on my runs were side stiches, although they did improve further into a run. Any thoughts on how to eliminate them altogether? Are they diet related? I'm hoping to get back into running once they weather improves. Thank you!

Please don't heel-strike people! Your knees, hips, and back will not thank you later in life. Heel-striking transfers the shock of impact straight to your knees. Try taking off your padded shoes that were only invented in the last century and run around heel-striking on hard ground. You'll either revert to a natural fore-foot run or be in a world of pain.

i remember the first time i watched this video. i memorized all of the techniques, and the next day when i went to the gym, i ran 45 minutes NON-STOP around the track. prior to that day, i was only able to run for about 5 minutes at a time before i needed to take a break. so in conclusion, THIS VIDEO IS THE TRUTH!!

Heyyy! I know people have already responded, but I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been playing soccer my whole life, and about a year or two ago I starting to move my arms and I got progressively faster. I don’t want to say running faster got me better at soccer, buttt I think it did hahaAnd yes, it will be building a good habit so I definitely recommend you start doing it!

@Fdumbass it's all about energy flow, when you hold your arms stuff to your body the blood can't flow as nicely as when you actually use your arms. The arms also help with the general momentum, like when you go faster with your arms you're actually running faster as well.. just try it.

I play soccer and most of my running is on the tip of my foot, it would probably be helpful if you started just doing little drills, oh and running on a treadmill on your “tippy toes”, that definitely will make you grow calve muscles to make it easier. Also do you have a bike? Because the stronger your calve muscles are, the easier you be able to run. but I’m no PE teacher or anything lol

I used to have that problem and it was really unmotivating, I was always very self aware. Now I do something that a friend thought me: Have your headphones blasting and when you pass a creep say good morning before he can even say anything. It actually works, I feel like they get surprised and dont come up with anything else to say than good morning back ahah Also after a while, you'll just stop caring about what any one thinks (this one took me some years). Happy runs!
